Selective Cation Chloride Cotransporter Inhibitors

Lead Program: IAMA-6 for Neurodevelopmental and Drug-Resistant CNS Disorders

IAMA-6 is a novel, selective inhibitor of NKCC1 designed to restore inhibitory neurotransmission and rebalance neuronal excitability—key mechanisms disrupted in various neurodevelopmental and CNS disorders.

The compound has shown robust efficacy in preclinical models of drug-resistant epilepsy and syndromic neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder and Fragile X syndrome, and holds potential across a broader spectrum of central nervous system indications where chloride imbalance plays a critical role.

We have successfully completed a first-in-human Phase 1 clinical study (NCT06300398), which demonstrated that IAMA-6 is safe and well tolerated in healthy volunteers, with a favorable pharmacokinetic profile. IAMA Therapeutics is now advancing the program toward further clinical development while exploring additional indications where NKCC1 dysregulation is implicated, such as schizophrenia and neuropathic pain.
